The 1 Mirage Window Smoke Every T-Side Player Must Know
Every round on Mirage T-side, there's an AWP watching window. You know it. Your team knows it. You peek anyway because no one threw the smoke.
Then you die. Round over.
This ONE smoke lineup blocks window from T-spawn and enables every A-execute. If you don't know it, you're trolling your team.
Quick Answer Box
The T-Spawn Window Smoke:
- Stand in T-spawn corner (right side near the broken wall)
- Align crosshair with the antenna tip on the building
- Run-throw (W + throw)
- Smoke lands perfectly on window
Takes 2 seconds. Blocks window for 17 seconds. Enables your A-take.
Why Window is So Important
The Problem
Window (also called "Sniper's Nest") overlooks ALL of mid. From window, a CT can:
- AWP anyone crossing mid
- Spot palace pushes
- Call rotations
- Pick players pushing underpass
One player can control the ENTIRE mid area of the map.
The Solution
Smoke window. Immediately. If window is smoked, the AWPer is useless. Your team can:
- Cross to boxes safely
- Push underpass without fear
- Take mid control for splits
The Lineup (Detailed)

The Throw
This is a RUN-THROW (also called running throw):
- Press W to move forward
- While moving, throw the smoke
- The momentum adds distance
Alternative: Use a jump-throw bind if run-throw is inconsistent.
Timing
Smoke lands in approximately 3.5 seconds. Time your execute accordingly.
Common Mistakes
Mistake #1: Standing Wrong Position
Even 1 meter off changes where smoke lands. Use the specific corner described.
Mistake #2: Jump-Throw Instead of Run-Throw
Jump-throw sends the smoke too high. It lands late or on top of window (useless).
Mistake #3: Throwing Too Early
If you throw immediately at round start, smoke expires before your team reaches A-site. Wait 5-10 seconds.
Combined with Other Smokes
Window smoke alone doesn't win rounds. Pair with:
| Smoke | Purpose | |-------|---------| | Window | Block AWP | | Jungle | Block A-site rotation | | CT | Block CT-spawn push | | Stairs (Palace) | Block crossfire |
Full A-take requires at least Window + Jungle + CT smokes.
One-Way Abuse
CTs can one-way window smoke if placed incorrectly. If your smoke bounces on the ledge, there's a gap where the AWP can still shoot.
How to Check
After throwing, peek mid briefly. If you can see INTO window, the smoke failed. Reset or call "broken smoke."
Alternative Lineups
The T-spawn lineup works best, but here are alternatives:
From Underpass
- Stand in underpass below mid
- Aim at the wood beam above
- Jump-throw
- Smoke lands on window from below
Pros: Works during round, not just at start Cons: Requires underpass control
From Top-Mid (Retake)
- Get to top-mid
- Throw directly at window
- Simple but exposed
Practice Routine
Daily (5 min)
- Load Mirage offline
- sv_cheats 1
- sv_infinite_ammo 1
- Practice 10 window smokes
- Check landing each time
Success Criteria
Land 9/10 smokes before using in ranked. One failed smoke = one dead teammate.
Coordination Callouts
When executing with team:
| Player | Role | |--------|------| | You | Window smoke | | 2nd | Jungle smoke | | 3rd | CT smoke | | 4th | Flash over palace | | 5th | Entry frag |
Call "smoking window" before throwing so team knows mid will be safe.

FAQ
Q: Can this smoke be one-wayed by CTs?
A: A perfect throw cannot be one-wayed. If it lands on the ledge, it can be abused.
Q: How long does the smoke last?
A: CS2 smokes last approximately 17 seconds.
Q: Should I throw every round?
A: Only when team plans mid-to-A executes. Don't waste utility randomly.
Q: What if CT pushes window early?
A: They can see you throwing if you're slow. Start the lineup quickly after round starts.
